Nanofiltration (NF) is the process of separating aqueous media using a membrane that has a less dense and more permeable selective layer than reverse osmosis. Accordingly, nanofiltration membranes, in comparison with reverse osmosis membranes, have reduced selectivity, increased permeability and lower operating pressure at a given productivity.
