For food pumps it is critical that there is no physical and chemical impact on the pumped medium. Therefore all casing parts, drive gears and pump elements are made of materials approved for contact with food products: stainless steel, PTFE, white EPDM, etc. The design of pumps for food liquids and viscous products allows maintaining hygiene in production. There are no places in the pump units where contaminants can accumulate or bacteria can breed. To meet hygienic requirements, the internal and external surfaces of the food pumps are carefully electrolytically polished to ensure the smoothest possible metal surface.
The simple cleaning and disinfection process is a big plus for industrial pumping units in terms of saving time and money needed to clean the equipment. Therefore, the design of many models of food pumps for viscous products and liquids includes the ability to quickly remove residual pumped substances from the working chamber and piping. Food pumps are also used for flushing systems and equipment for equipment disinfection and for CIP.
