Pall rings are a type of packing used in column equipment during heat and mass transfer processes to improve contact between gas and liquid. The column can operate at higher gas velocities, while the liquid is evenly distributed across the packing. The rings provide high throughput capacity and low hydraulic resistance.
Their efficiency depends on the material of construction (metal, plastic, ceramic), ring size (15, 25, 38, 50 mm), and the operating conditions of the column (gas velocity, liquid flow rate, temperature, and pressure).
Application areas:
Plastic Pall rings are most commonly used because of their chemical resistance and low weight. They provide a large contact surface area with good throughput performance.
